Very sad news this morning, as my favorite author Kurt Vonnegut died yesterday at the age of 84. He will be missed. |

Kurt was one the most creative writers in America. He will be greatly missed, but his works will live forever. Wish we all could say that of ourselves. |

this sucks. he's a hometown boy and was supposed to give a big talk here in about 2 weeks. :( it's also "the year of vonnegut" here in indy.
i'll miss his weekly cartoons in our alternative paper. |

I still remember literally laughing out loud reading breakfast of champions. I think they ruined it later with a movie attempt.
I will always love the part in "Back to school" where Rodney Dangerfield has Vonnegut write a report on himself adn he doesn't even get an "A." classic stuff. |

Wow, you never expect people like him to die. I didn't realize he was 84 years old. |

FYI NPR has a really good article on Vonnegut including several audio interviews. |

I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all the kinds of things you can't see from the center.

I was lucky enough to meet him several years ago, and even got him to autograph one of his books.
That's an item I'll cherish forever.
I'll miss him. |

I'm not sure why I have to post a Challenge Suggestion in the General Discussion forum merely because someone posted here that Vonnegut died, but nontheless let me say again it would be nice to have a challenge of photographs that are inspired by/representative of elements from his books. |

Tiger gotta hunt
Bird gotta fly
Man gotta ask himself 'Why, why, why?'
Tiger gotta sleep
Bird gotta land
Man gotta tell himself 'I understand!'
You have found peace Kurt. I just hope you know how many people you have touched...

What sad news. He was one of my university graduation commencement speakers, with Bob Hope. He was such a good, gentle man. |
