And here is my shot...

Same image on my Flickr page

Got a tip from a DPC´er (thanx Techo) that my image got stolen. Not really upset, I kindof take it as a compliment even though I think passing off other peoples work as your own is about as low you can go. When I commented on that shot for this particular user to remove it from their profile, the person just blocked me from commenting some more, lol, some people :)

Just wanted to post this in case anyone else recognizes their image in there, I briefly looked through "her" portfolio and the variety of styles of the shots really imply that most of her work is stolen.

I see other DPCer's work there too. Larus, you should contact DeviantArt. By the multitude of styles there, I would guess none of those images belong to that user.

Strange that the user states cameras owned, yet your photo was taken with a 5D, and obviously the user has now acquired a 5D!!

Oh already did, might take them a while though and not really stressing about it.

I reported both images, as that is just not right. All the photographers here work hard to put out quality images and some **@$%% comes along and copies them and says they are thiers.

Not right at all.

Me too. I commented on Gary's photo and now I can't view any of the comments on that photo and I can't comment on any others or her profile.

Hmmmm ...I'll bet you this one is hers....I'm guessing from the date stamp that it was not shot with her Canon EOS-1D Mark III listed in her tools of the trade. LOL!

Damn, that must mean that you are at least 5 times a better photographer than me :)

Holy CRAP! Read the comments. Looks like it's out there as "stock".

And I still can't comment:

You all should remember to take screenshots and/or otherwise archive her pages before you are blocked from commenting, and perhaps do the same with your DPC image pages, so that you have maximum evidence of the deliberate nature of the other person's infringement.

gosh..

this is something that really irritating.

It's that possible for the dpc to add "disable right click function"
on dpc's photos so then it's not easily copied-pasted or saved?

I don't know if this is a good idea..
but I think it's may help.

I got it on my main website where viewers are blocked from clicking right mouse in other to avoid photo stealing.

Thats why i've started putting watermarks on my photos, they may not be that great but at least they are mine.. I dont understand how people can take someone else's photo (or should i say PHOTOS) and say it's theirs thats so low.

Right click disable is useless, as is the java-based shrink-wrapping of placing them under a clear gif. If it can be viewed, it can be saved, period.
Watermark or don't put them on the web seem to be the ONLY two methods, with the latter being the only one that is safe.

Hehe.... nope it just means I have my photos posted on more more websites than you.

She took all those photos from my pbase site anyway cos a couple of them I only have posted there.

I think the devart definition of stock is different to what we would normally use. It simply means that the "photographer" is giving permission for other artists to use the photo in a derivative work.

It's also interesting to see her releasing other peoples work under a Creative Commons license!

Anyone ever have a portrait sitting at Olan Mills? The proofs and stamped and embossed.

Ask goodman about the time she saw her picture(s) for sale in the way of some postcards locally.

From the links above I went deviantart browsing and saw some jaw dropping stuff there.. WOW shots.. but the sad part is I can't be sure if they really are whose they are claimed to be.. situations like this kind of makes one too skeptical and bitter.. shame..
