Pretty happy with that. I had taken a better one a week before challenge, but glad so far. I cant say that its a perfect vanishing point picture

Also, Im a little bit of a stickler with pics meeting the challenge (unless its a imo clever perversion from it). So given that, I cant bring myself to vote high for lines that either:
-Do not converge (no matter how nice the picture is)
-are vertical lines that are abruptly cut off by a horizontal line
-that DO converge but we dont see that fact in the photo

Shots of a traintrack: I give a base 5 and then +1,+2 etc from there on

If anyone thinks my thinking is wrong let me know

But what if the photo sucks and doesn't deserve the 5 to start with?

I guessed there would be a few traintracks and/or roads, but man, there are LOADS of them!
My shot is a bit different, in the hope that the voters would appreciate that, though it is sitting at 4.6 :-(
(Yes - my lines converge to a visible point!)

I think that is a reasonable bet! As a registered user, rather than a full member, the votes are updated at ten past the hour, so refresh your screen at 11 minutes past - those of us who are blue shirts have an update button that some press at least 20 times an hour!

Good Luck in your first challenge.

Strangely not a lot of fences. I think I know which image is Whiterook's and its definitely none of the above themes. Its one of the most unique takes on the challenge I have seen so far. Of course I can't point it out because that would be wrong.

I hope no one is giving out low scores because of this though.

I think i am being nailed by dnmc voters - already got comments to that effect, yet i think they are missing the point - literally. It really does seem like only fences, roads, railways, and look up a building shots are deemed worthy of "vanishing pointness" and added to that the lines, of which the more the merrier to drive home the point, must be at an extreme angle...

edit: i might consider that the vanishing point looking up a building isnt technically on the horizon (as per the contest description) am i entitled to give a dnmc vote because of it?

This is going to be one of those rollercoaster rides for me. I started off lastnight with a 6.0 had 5.6 at bed time woke up to a nice score, a couple of nice comments and am now thinking I might just get a high 6 or even a low 7 out of this picture.

Up quite a bit from last night, hoping that trend continues.

I think everyone needs to remember that all comments are gifts.

Those of us you give these gifts/ comments should be treated appropriately. Sending emails/ PMs to people that complain that we have missed the "obvious" really makes me and others that give comments less likely to spend the effort. I could just vote and then you would have to guess as to why I gave a certain score. That would be a shame.

Mine's a train track pic; I knew going into it that there would be a lot (I count 30) so I tried to make it a little different. Seems to be working ok; I'm happy with my score so far.
