I just received this info from my local Camera Club. I have not ever taken this trip, but my friend tells me they strategically stop the train on the bridge allowing for fantastic photo opps.....

Adirondack Rail Photographer Excursion
Thendara [Old Forge] NY ΓΆ€“ The Adirondack Scenic Railroad will run a special all-day excursion on Saturday, June 9th allowing photographers the opportunity to photograph the train in scenic locations along its entire route from Thendara [Old Forge] to Utica and over rare freight-only tracks from Snow Junction [Remsen, NY] to Lyons Falls. This section of track is owned by the Mohawk, Adirondack & Northern Railroad. An old diesel locomotive built by the American Locomotive Company [ALCO, Schenectady, NY] will power the train. The excursion will depart Thendara at 9am and return approximately 6pm. Price will be $50 and include all weekend events, $45 for Adirondack Railway Preservation Society [ARPS] members. Food and drink will be available for purchase during the event but riders may also bring their own picnic lunches.
The excursion is part of the annual Railfan Weekend and the railroad will hold other programs and unique photographic opportunities.
