Excellent advice from everyone here, thanks. I've been considering the 10d and 300d, myself. It's good to know that new release announcements should be coming soon in February (anyone know what date?) so I'll try to hold off until then. It's agonizing, though!

For those that can't...

Ritz has what appears to be a great deal on the 300d here. It comes with 2 lenses, a bag, battery and charger and a couple other things.

Circuit City currently has 10% off on the 10d which brings it down to $1350 or around there. They were available this a.m. while at work but when I got home they've already sold out. You may want to keep checking back on those. Here's the link.
