The first one absolutely does once you figure out what you're looking at.

Thank you so much for this honor Yanko. As you read in the photo details, this images, although lacking in technical quality, is so near and dear to my heart.

Yep, I gave that one a 10+fav as soon as I saw it, and I'm pretty tight with the 10's. Lovely B/W, incredibly captivating. Frame's full enough for me! Awesome, Judi!!

I'm completely out of the loop on this and was just linked to this thread.
What's the deal here? I see I've had a couple on Backlight and one on Fill the Frame.

This is similar to the "under-rated photo" threads people used to start all the time, but ongoing ... some people are regularly posting their personal choices for "ribbons" in challenges as they are completed.

I am very honored to have been chosen for the red ribbon. I guess I owe you a poem. Give me a few days and I will see what I can come up with.

Thank you, I had already read it but it didn't change my opinion.

I gotta say - I agree on that one. Yes I realize that it's a hard-drive of some sort- but a mirror / illusion in this case creates a good argument dnmc â€Â¦Ã‚¬ much like this might if it were in "fill the frame" . Just my opinion. All decent shots of course.

I love this image from the speed challenge!!!

I missed the Speed challenge (too fast for me!) but I did vote on Without Annette:

Posthumous Blue Ribbon:
to studiog2 for

Posthumous Red Ribbon:
to feralinet for

Posthumous Yellow Ribbon:
to Siggav for

ok, well, some of you may have noticed that the Posthumous Blue is also the DPC red... I knew this was a risk when I gave it the ribbon. But I have to give my ribbons on what I feel are the merits of the photograph and how it relates to the challenge. And this relates to the challenge so beautifully. And even though it is a set-up shot, it is using living creatures (I think the cat is living) that do indeed seem very much alive and interacting. The yellow ribbon is top 10 as well, but it is simply an outstanding photograph. It's not my fault if DPC voters occasionally recognize an outstanding photograph! :P

As an ameliorative gesture, however, I will present an honorable mention for the most grossly underrated photo in the challenge. This so clearly meets the challenge in an imaginative way with a perfectly executed photograph, and yet scored under a 5:

I would ask DPC "what were you thinking?" except that I don't want to know what they were thinking.

Besides not being technically great, the really low score might be somewhat of a cultural and/or age thing. It's been a long time since I've thought of playing ball and using the line as the goal. To be honest, the title confused me for a second, because I never played in the street (There wasn't paved roads for 5 miles, heh).

I agree it definately does fit the challenge, but it did take more than a second to understand for me, because of how I was raised and what I've been exposed to as an adult (meaning I don't have kids).

I think the point -- and how I voted on this image -- was that the kid is darting INTO the street to retrieve the ball.

He/she is not playing in the street as much as putting themselves at risk to get smashed by a car.

That's how I perceived it as well.
