Hey, I just realized this thread was started by Jorge ( De Sousa). I had always assumed it was started by Posthumous.

Yes, I think this was very good. I love the symmetry of the shapes created by the yellow and by the blue -- they are like interlocking pieces of a puzzle. |

The majority of my top pics for 'Ealiest Memory' made it to the top ten, but a couple that I enjoyed fell short. I found these two photos fun and engaging for the challenge theme.

Side note - what's the big deal with borders? With member challenges now having 720px I think some of that space can be used as a 'canvas' for the photo. Not all images work well with the voting page neutral gray. Also, in some cases a detailed photo may not stay under 200kb size limit at 720px (then you get penalized for not using the 720 max). Ok - side rant over. :-)

I am thrilled to accept this award on behalf of what's left of my memory and my Nana's sideboard :-)))
Top 5 and a posthumous Blue ... that's like winning the lottery twice twice with one ticket! Actually odds are probably better on the lottery so my luck must be running really strong right about now :::scurries off to buy a lottery ticket::: |

Thank you, Don. I'm honored. And I'm happy, happy, HAPPY that the image (or at least my effort) has been understood and appreciated. |

Okay, I admit it. I'm one of those who looks at the winners then flips to the end to check out the DQ's and browns. That means I haven't looked at many of the entries yet, but this is my choice;

Folks complained about the processing but I think it's perfect for the sentiments expressed in the title.
The perspective, from a distance... the feeling of now looking in as an outsider where one once belonged...
The lack of contrast, the grain, the posterising... the distortion of childhood memories and dreams brought by those memories...
I really can't express it, but this shot strangely moved me. |

I don't have any of the fancy ribbons that you people give away, but, if it was any way possible, I'd gladly buy a yellow beer on a green bottle and a green candy in a red wrap to the following two images:
by pointandshoot
and
by klstover
The idea of "It's showtime" was quite popular, four or five other images had the same idea. But, the striking thing is the realization, the realism of Steve's shot. Not that I think people can remember getting out, but if you'd want a kid's point of view, this is as close as you'd get. I guess... Looking at the other images with the same idea and comparing them with Steve's shot, I learn about what people want to see. Steve is just saying this is the way it is, but people put it at the end of the line, and voting high slick photos of what they want the world to be. He dared, and he realized it very good. In my opinion.
As for the second image, "of a parasol", I'm still baffled whether photomemories can be abstract.
So, cheers everyone. |

In the Reflections challenge, I voted high for the ones that finished towards the top, but I also voted the following fairly high as well and would like to have seen these finish with a better score:
