Well, I didn't get a chance to vote on Natural Light Portrait. I did vote on Paper, though, but I was overwhelmed by the mediocrity of it. It amazes me how the photographers here will rise or sink to the level of the challenge. Just because the challenge is "paper" doesn't mean you have to do some boring studio shot.
That being said, I will give kudos to goodman and Jutilda. They got 10s from me and took photos that would be interesting anywhere, not just in this challenge.
Now, show me YOUR ribbons. Help me find the thrilling, defiant, and beautiful natural portraits. I know they're hiding in that challenge somewhere! |

Ok... I didn't finish my goal of 100% comments cus life took over, nor did I see all the entries, so no ribbons, just entries I enjoyed.

BLUE
RED
YELLOW
And here's some honorable mentions that I thought should have placed higher..
Funny how all but 2 are children! Great use of natural light and color for all of the above. |

In Portrait I fell in love with this one. Maybe it did not score well because of the highlights but the expression and cropping made it wonderful in spite of that.

In Portrait - This formal, well edited b&w - Ernest Hemingway lookalike.
I think possibly cropped a bit tight but shows a face of wonderful character.

You need to stop and take a look at this photo.
This fine piece deserves all of your attention and sensibility to beauty. |

I agree. I agreed during voting. I think that was one of the images I gave a 9 to. ::::checks:::: Yep, gave it a 9. She actually looks almost exactly like one of my co-workers, which probably made me like it even more.

This one was on my short list for a ribbon. I recognized the grigrigirl style on this one. Take a look in her portfolio for wedding shots using this style. Stunning. |
