For anyone interested or curious, I put a couple "behind the scenes" photos in the photographer's comments that show how I created my Action Shot entry, Breaking The Bank:

Ed, that is one badass setup. I think it's time you invest in a sound trigger for your flash. Good work.

Oh my gosh. I would never have thought thats how you did it!
Very clever. Congrats!!

What pedantic madness! Your entry may have done so-so, but this process, certainly, deserves a 10.

So how about revealing the titles of the books you got?

The legs seem to be in perfect shape so I was wondering how you did this. Very cool.

Eddy, that is incredible! I am in shock too! I would never have known or guessed had you not posted the set up. Good for you!

Actually there are two giveaways about this. First and foremost shutter speed. Second all the foreground coins cast no shadows other than short deep shadows that a coin casts on the surface it rests on. Especially the one over the center piece is quite obviously unaturall IMO.

Nevertheless, A for effort to set this thing up and congrats on your results.

Very cool - when I first saw it, I thought it was a set up shot, but wasn't quite sure how it was done. It's great - but it was just a little to perfect for a quick capture I thought.

Good work Eddy. I find the set up is half the fun, I could spend hours setting up for a photo. I love it!

I feel so cheated :)

J/K, nice shot

Thanks! You can never have enough clamps.

Some of the holes got a little loose from too much fiddling while trying to get the position "just right" and the pieces wouldn't stay where I wanted them to. So I used the clamps as "ballast" to prevent certain pieces from moving/twisting.

Well I got America 24/7, my very own copy of Understanding Exposure and the book with the "exploding pig" shot (which is much better than my attempt) is a hard-cover book published in the UK by Rotovision called Still Life and Special Effects Photography. I think willem owns or has at least seen this book, since he made reference to it in his comment...

I noticed that my local barnes and noble had America 24/7 for half price the other day.. i think they may be trying to get rid of leftover christmas stock...

Here are some book recommendations I posted now in a separate thread.
The book "still life and special effects photography" shows this shot.

Those rotovision lighting and pro-lighting series all use the same principle, a great photograph, a text with explanation and thoughts behind it, and a lighting setup diagram. Not only for still life, but also for portraits, nudes, etc.

It is like an "how did they do that" tutorial here on dpc, great inspiration and you never know when you will use it but you will some time.

WOW, Eddy! I would have never thought, this is amazing! :-) You took my breath away, what an idea!
