You ever been on your belly trying to shoot through the viewfinder. There are times when it IS useful.

Yes I have and with no issues. But, I am a small guy...

I was clean laid out on the floor when I shot this:

Still, that's part of the joy of an SLR. =) Live view, schmive view. Then again... if the batter grip somehow wirelessly transmitted the image to a full monitor. Now that'd be sweet. ;)

Now. Let place that plate in the mud out in the rain. Would you still spend the same amount of time shooting as you did before? ;)

Heh. Woohooo! 2 years later, full frame for the nikonites!

Gotta say that's a lot of camera for the price if the $1800 estimate holds true.

Umm, pro alloy body with a built in vertical grip and better weather sealing, and ISO 24,600.

Advantage Nikon!

51 af points, 15 of them cross-type! Advantage D3!

9FPS ! Advantage D3!

The D3 has some very impressive set of features, it might even become a 1D III killer with the ISO 24,600 and 11fps. Now we just need to see what kind of image quality it produces.

Again Nikon and Canon are making sure their products do not go head to head, they both have products that fit different niches.

Competition is good! Can't wait to see what the 5D II will be like.

autofocus in live view mode - nikon!

I think Nikon is still sort of under the delusion that FF doesn't matter to pro-sumers though, which is disappointing. In their minds, the D300 is the 5d competitor, the D3 is the 1dMkIII competitor, and they're supposedly making a FF 1ds competitor for release early 2008. Since the D200 has been the main (and outselling) competition of the 5d, they may not be far off.

Hopefully the D300 will have better noise characteristics, my 10-20 DX format would be sweet on that cam, and a long shot cheaper than that 14-24 will be.

Still, my previous statements still stand. The D3 is in a whole, incomparable class above the 5d, and the price reflects that. Full-frame is the only similarity in those two cameras. Well, they both have mirrors and viewfinders too.

Link to NikonUSA.com Announcement Page

For the D300 I like the idea of the 3 inch LCD And being able to shoot in Tiff could be a bonus. I have mixed feelings about the sensor cleaning til I see it.

Edit to add, Besides getting a D300 I want this lens

Glad you are not jumping over to the dark side. Although I hear if you buy a new Canon you get a free trip to Iceland and 3 Blue Ribbons.
Still not worth it,. lol

Like the sound of the D3. glad to hear they went full frame AND DX format. Imagine that.... shooting in either full frame or crop... now let's guess the price

£3500?

Soooooo (Looks around)

Who is selling their D200 cheap?

The D300 looks great but I can't afford (or convince my wife to let me spend) that sorta money.
