I am having a slight problem in finding someplace that rents for my Olympus E-500. I am looking to rent a 300mm lens for about a week or so. My Son will be Graduating from Marine Corps recruit training the second week of November. I would like some assistance in this if anyone knows of a place it would be appreciated.

This is one of the reasons why I switched to Canon--the new EOS 40D. Well, I haven't switched yet--it has been ordered.

With my Pentax, there were a couple of times I needed a speciality lens and nobody rented lenses with that mount. Everywhere I'd go (and there are a ton of camera stores in southern Californa), they all had Canon and Nikon lenses--but mostly Canon.

I've used these guys twice now.
LensRentals.com

I don't see that they have Olympus equipment, but for those interested I see they have some of their stuff up for sale for Canons, . They also rent bodies. I just noticed they have the 40D in stock.

Stuff for sale:
Canon 100-400 IS L , Canon 300 f4 IS , Canon 17-40 f4 L , Canon 16-35 f 2.8 Mark I , the Tamron 200-500mm for Canon , and we are closing out our Canon Speedlight 420 ex flashses

Most professionals, for whatever reason, use Canon or Nikon.
Most lens rental is done by professionals.
So, it makes sense that most equipment available for rent would be Canon or Nikon gear.

If you really want a long lens but can't find one, maybe you should consider renting a camera body too. Obviously you'll need a little extra time to get used to it, you don't want to be thinking "how do I ..." type questions during the ceremony!

Top Pros like those in Hollywood or Space ( NASA ) use something like

this:

forget about cannon or nikon when it comes to very serious stuff!

You could lease a decent Hasselblad for about $ 700 bucks a month!

Actually I believe NASA uses Nikon D2X's. And yes the Hassy is good for fashion or landscape but you won't see one on the runway or at a sporting event. It just can't compete with the MKIII or the new D3!

ETA: but I would love to have one!
