Hey everbuddy. I'm tootin' my own horn here, but I thought it's kinda cool :-)
You may have seen discussion before about the Mid Michigan Photography Club between some of us Michiganders. Anyway, we are haveing a big show in a local gallery starting in Oct. They used a photo of mine for the posters/flyers for the show! You can see the poster here.
I will have 2 photos in the show-
Also, we are raising money for the Sparrow Foundation, specifically going towards the areas first Pediatric ER unit. One of the things for that that we are doing is an 'Adopt a Photo' program. Many of the club members submitted images they wished to donate to the program. Sparrow picked some that they liked, and these photos will be on display at the show. People can then 'adopt' them, which means the purchase money goes to the foundation, and then the photos will be hung in the new wing upon it's completion. For these pics, they requested a theme of aquatic/nature, baby animals, kids at play, kid 'friendly' images. 2 of the shots I submitted were chosen!
Anyways, thanks for putting up with my self-indulgence :-) I thought it was kinda cool. toocool will have a piece in the show too!
Our club is young, but really pushing strong! We already are planning some rocking things for next year too! |

Well, the next meeting is Oct 3rd, but it is not going to be a regular meeting, it is at the gallery, and we'll just mainly be setting up everything for the show. In Nov., we will be back to regular meetings, on the second wed. of the month. Here is a link to the clubs site, lots of info there. Mid Michigan Photography Club |

Update for anyone interested.
Today was the opening reception for our MMPC Best of '07, Click for Kids show. For a club still in it's infancy, and our first big 'event', I think it was a great success. We had a pretty good flow of viewers come through the exhibit. Lots of conversation and interest in the photos and the club and the event. Even got a short spot on the local news tonight. Seven of our 'Adopt a Photo' prints were adopted, and all the shots for that will be hung in Sparrow Hospital upon the completion of the new ER. We sold a LOT of raffle tickets, and some straight donations at the foundation table. I don't have any final figures, but I know we raised some good funds for the new Peds ER! I don't believe anyone had a sale today, although some folks had people express interest and possible follow ups for the sale. The display will be up through the end of Dec. though, so there is still lots of time. :-) I think everyone involved had a really great time!
Oh, and by the way ;-) my 'Hopper Vortex' and 'Up' took 1st and 3rd in the people's choice awards we had !
And on a sidenote, if anyone is hesitant or just wondering about the quality of DPCPrints, I must have had at least a couple dozen people want to know where I got the prints for my shots, some saying they were the best looking they had seen, especially for that size (they were 16x20). So yeah, DPCPrints totally ROCKS!!! |

Congrats on the success Tater. You ALMOST, made we wish I were there to participate. Something about the scenic mountains here, and the moose that run through my yard makes me think otherwise though. :P
Seriously, glad to hear the photo club and your efforts are doing so well. |
