but this is the first time that I've really seen snow. Now I just gotta figure out how to capture it...

My advice is to travel outside Usa and see the world. Seeing new countries and having contact with different point of view is vital.

I'm surprised that it usually does not snow in Michigan! Is it simply to dry in winter or is it never below freezing temperature (what ever Fahrenheit that is)?

I think the operative word here is seen

I've found photography has made me look at things for the first time that I've seen every day before that, but never really noticed

Yeah, I think he must be talking about a new way of seeing it.... through a camera lens. I've been in S.E. Michigan since 1985 and have never had a lack of snow. My wife is going nuts this week. Today is the 3rd day in a row they closed the schools.

Now I get it!
I already started to question my geographical and meteorological knowledge about the US :)

TooCool, I was wondering the same thing. Maybe someone will post a thread or tip. I have taken several photos recently and they seem dull. Granted, they were taken on gray days. If the sun would ever shine, I would think that would add some sparkle.

It seems like the whole northern part of North America is one big giant iceberg right now... Too &^$*%@# cold to shoot outside.

What the heck is that annoying sound outside ?? Oh, wait, it is the @#$%^*% snowplow 1:30 am in the morning...

(I've been kind of grumpy lately, just ignore my whining)

You got it Gordon, I've looked at snow all my life. Some years more, some years less. Now I see the beauty in the snow and it's all DPC's fault...
