Yeh well 10 months ago £600 looked like a good deal!
Anyway my son now has the 602Z and I have upgraded to a Canon 300D
Are you a Taff by any chance?

No no, I'm not British. I'm American studying at U of Aberystwyth. I went back to Vegas, and needed to upgrade my 2800Z. I do have a flatmate who is in the Taff though. Not as if that really matters.
Ahh I do see now you have a dSLR already. I should have been more observant. :( |

I payed £694 for my fuji s602 and £600 for the fuji 601z before that.
I sold the 602z on e bay about 6 weeks ago for £273.
It was worth every penny as i have about 8000 priceless family and challenge photos.
I think my canon 300d will serve me longer as the only limitations i have found with it is me. |

George - the 602Z is an oustanding camera, the macro is something I miss very much. There was even a time when I first had the 300D and thought I had taken a step back! I would not hesitate to get the 602z for £299. Also the video feature is excellent, it was not something I was interested in at all but I did use it occasionally, 30 fps is very good quality and it runs well with a 512mb cf card. Go for it the S3000 just does not compare in anyway whatsoever with the 602Z. The 602Z is a top quality item.

I want to upgrade but a 300d or sony 828 is out of my price range :(
It`s my birthday in a couple of weeks and my wife is happy for me to go up to £500 but to be honesty I feel guilty spending that much on another new camera (third in three years)plus the cameras in that range don`t seem to be as good as the 602 (someone will tell that I`m wrong :))
I think the 602 will give me more flexablity that the A40.

Yeh no doubt about that - the 602 will be a very big improvement on the a40. I cant praise the 602 enough and at £299 its an absolute bargain. Dont hesitate - get it!!

George, just be aware that there's a difference between the S602 and the S602Z - I don't recall what the differences are off the top of my head, and don't know if they'd be significant to you, but they are there and worth checking into. This is probably at least a big part of the difference in price between those two links.
The S602 is definitely worth considering - I may have chosen it over the G5, but couldn't find anyone here selling it any more. |

i have to jump in here and agree with all the praise on the 602. it's a really really awesome camera. also a pretty good design on the body. very comfy in my hands. there are a couple small things on the controls that i don't like, and those have been improved in the new s7000, but the 602 is a steal. it makes really really good prints as well.
