I can't find anywhere a test on the new Tamron 28-300 VC lens.
Have you ever seen an article related to such a test or, better, a comparison between the Canon IS and Tamron VC technologies?
bye

That's because it is not out yet :)
The Canon version was supposed to be released end of August but they delayed it (with no mention of a future release date) because of problems:
"We regret to inform you that we are postponing shipments of the Canon mount AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC zoom lenses due to a technical problem in part of the VC (vibration compensation) mechanism."
The Nikon version is due out the end of this year.

Actually they just announce that the lens will be released on the 26th of October in Japan for Canon users. Nikonians will have to wait until early spring of 2008.

An e-commerce WEB site which was proposing that lens at 600 euro deceived me.
What a pity, I was going to buy it...

I wonder how it would work on a Pentax / Sony / Oly camera?
8 stops of stabilization, or none at all? :-P |

Mmmh, probably it is better if I wait some months before buying the new lens...

So they pushed back Nikon as well.
There are also compatibility issues.
I am glad I did not wait and just bought the Sigma 18-200 OS.
They seem not to have ironed out all the kinks, rushed to release it and who knows what other problems will crop up later.

Funny, I've heard nothing but good things about most tamron lenses... |

Wow, that's a strong statement. I love my Tamron 17-50. I have no clue what's up with this specific lens, but condemning the entire company is too much.

My favorite lens is a Tamron. Note that the Sigma 18-200 OS might suit your needs and it's available now. |

They are out! I have had this lens since August 17th. It is a great lens. Yes it was delayed but they are shipping them again. |
