I want to print some bookmarks. Could someone recommend a good, sturdy inkjet photo paper that would work well for bookmarks?
Does anyone else make other 'gifty' things to sell? I currently print my own greeting cards and magnets. Just looking for more ideas.

| For durability, print bookmarks on card stock paper. Almost all paper companies make them I prefer epson with my epson printers. You can cut to size with paper trimmer or get a program to use templates to line up with paperstock. Check avery products as well. psart |

When I made bookmarks I used regular photo quality print paper, then used self-adhesive sheets to 'laminate' them; that way they were stiffened and protected from bleeding or whatever at the same time.
Other crafty things to consider:

cgino - What a great idea. Laminating would make them really nice and sturdy. Thanks for the other links too. Some interesting ideas there. :-)

Someplace I have a template I made up to print out (on letter-size paper) six 2" square photos so that, with some straightforward but tedious cutting and folding, you can make a cube with a picture on each face. You could make the pictures bigger is you have a tabloid-size (11x17) or larger printer.
I hung mine up by a thread in one corner like a Christmas tree ornament, but you could do other things too -- maybe fill with beans and glue securely to make a paperweight ...
If anyone's interested in something like that I'll try and find that template. |

For my son's soccer banquet, we made keepsakes for the graduating seniors by taking a hoop (like an embroidery hoop) and wooden shapes (stars, circles, diamonds, etc.) painting all that one color (black in our case and printing pictures and cutting them out to fit the shapes - glued one on each side and hung them from the hoop with different lengths of cord. The cords were in the school colors. Use more cord to gather together at the top and you have a hanging "scrapbook" (I probably haven't explained this very well - the hoop is parallel to the floor - like a basketball hoop rather than a dreamcatcher). The guys actually liked them. Since I had taken tons and tons of pictures throughout the season, I gave each team member dvd's of their own pictures. It was an enormously time-consuming project, but I still get thank-yous from team members.
The hoop project could certainly be changed to make a Christmas present project. |
