I recently took a picture while vacationing in Sydney that I would like to use for 'Something Old'. My camera however, was still set to EST time and thus says that my picture was taken on the 23rd despite it being the 24th local Australian time.
Is there anything I can do about that? Or am I just out of luck...

You might be OK, but maybe not. The time is based on EST so if it was taken outside of the EST times for the challenge, it may not be acceptable. I would put a ticket to the SC.

Date is one thing that we have to (and can) be very consistent in enforcing. Unfortunately for you, a date outside of the allowed dates will lead to a DQ, even if we believe that it was a mistake where you set it to the wrong time zone. I'm very sorry about that, but as said at first, it is one of the things that we have to, and can, be very consistent in enforcing.
Maybe you can use the image for the monthly Free Study?

that would suggest that the photo was taken before the challenge was actually announced.
Here in Australia we have to take the picture after 2pm the day after the challenge date in the US.
i.e US 24th @ midnight = AUS 25th @ 2pm
So for us the Monthly free study dosent include the first 14 hours of the month, but it does include the first 14 hours of next month :)
See clear as mud :)

I thought we were supposed to keep out timestamp set to our home time instead of changing to wherever you are. |

I think it states that in the rules somewhere. You just need to put the location of the photo in the detail section of the photo. SC deals with the time difference during validation. |

I would think that if the EST was before the date the challenge started....then it was taken before the challenge in Australia |

Then he should have used the image for the membership giveaway thread first. :-P |
