Hi everyone,
I am looking for a decent digital camera for around $100. I don't really have any specific requirements, but one that would be great to have is instructions and menus in Russian. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

I have a Nikon Coolpix L6 as my second camera. It takes very nice photos, and it has an easy to use interface. Here are some samples I shot with it earlier this year:

I had some L3's in mind for my nephews for Christmas. It is last years model, almost the same as My L6 (1 Mp less, and a smaller screen) and I should be able to locate some for well under the $100 mark. I'll take a look at mine this evening when I get home and see what languages it has built in.

I've seen the L6 on clearance at Target for $99 this past summer.

I went out during lunch to Wolf Camera's clearance center here in Dallas, and they had a handful of Nikon L3's, new in the box, still hiding out in the back. They wanted $100 for them, and after a little haggling, I got two of them for $80 apiece.

It looks like it does have Russian, at least that's what I think it is in the upper right of the language select screen. You can tell better than I can, so here's a screen shot:

They have 3 more on hand if anyone else in the Dallas area may want one.

Was recently given Nikon Coolpix L10 ($120 Canadian, doesn't reflect Can $ advantage) as backup/carry around. Has Russian, and is pretty good for a point and shoot, especially snapshots (dogs and people at closer range); can work with menu options to get some control over aperture and timing. I would rate as nicely adequate.

Better lcd screen than L3, and greater aperture range (according to EXIF) than specifications indicate. Handles nicely. (edit).

I looked on newegg, and they have an L11, for $110 with a free 1GB SD card. For the extra money, it's got a slightly higher resolution, but it's got a a bigger LCD.

L 11 caveat: Bigger screen but less resolution; also more megapixels, but same size sensor. (I am very happy with the L10 screen - it pretty much indicates what you need to know, and your pics look way better on the computer than you'd suspect - exact reverse of my Panny).

I believe the L11 is the direct replacement for my L6. Looks like nearly the same specs as my L6,though I have not compared them in fine detail. For your grandfathers use, I think any of this design series of Nikons would do him fine.

My wife is pleased with my purchase of the L3's for our nephews. Maybe this will be the year we have all our Christmas shopping done by December?
