Just got my first comment a DNMC, which I find hilarious since my conversion method was Image > Mode > Duotones. The commenter didn't like my subject matter either, which probably explains the DNMC more.

My 2's are 3's :)

Looks like I may have found my dancing partners.

A-HA! That's where the elusive Duotone is in PhotoShop!
Now... how do you actually get to use it? Very quickly I tried to open a JPG, a TIF and a NEF, and then all three in different bit modes, but the stupid thing is perpetually grayed out..?

(I did mine with gradient maps.)

The image has to be greyscale and 8-bit before Duotones is available.

Nope - still pleased with my score but took a pretty big dip. Hope it can recover some.

Just finished voting...now I got to comment...all I gotta say is.....DAMN I'm glad I didn't enter this one...this has probably the best submissions for one challenge I have ever seen. I don't think I gave out under a 6....Well done everyone...

I'm at a 5.0. What have I learned from this challenge?

There is a reason that duotone is well hidden in the photoshop menus...

Another easy way to get a duotone in Photoshop...

New hue/sat adjustment layer, make sure you check the "colorize" box. Play with the slider and the saturation level until your heart's content.

Or.... you can do a solid color layer (on top of your preferred black and white conversion) set to "soft light". Play with transparency for increased/decreased effect

Hmm, I entered an actual dutotone. Maybe that's the problem!

This would get you DQ'ed. Layers must be in normal blend mode.

It's running under Advanced editing rules...

Not bad for my weeny weeny Point and Shoot - not sure I would have had a different result (score or image) with my more serious camera?
