Before you run off buying this or renting or that, make sure you know what the church/officiant allows in terms of flash, how close you can be to the B/G, and what the lighting/ceiling situation is in the church and reception hall. If it is a small church with low(er) white or tiled ceiling, then you might be okay with what you have. If it's a nightmare church like my first wedding shoot (big, with high stained-wood cathedral ceiling, huge blue stained-glass window behind altar, no flash allowed during ceremony, and photogs have to stay behind seated guests) then you'll want to at least rent faster VR/IS glass (I did). You can't go wrong having better equipment in any scenario, my only point is that if this is your first wedding and you're not sure you'll ever want to do it again once you've tried it, then don't spend lots of money unnecessarily. |
