Grats Marac - I've got it and love it to bits. It's a fantastic lens and really quick. It'll be amazing on a 5D or full frame but I love the semi distorted results I get on a 1.6x (my 30D). Enjoy :)

EDIT: This just in - France24 published the story about photographers and the new Met Police campaign...

Just out on interest, are they for any time? or did you have to book a specific time?

You have to book them for a time slot. I have booked for 15:30 on 16th March, and got a 10% discount by booking online. Now just got to hope the weather is fairly good, but either way it seemed like a great way to round off the day:))

LOL think I'll wait till I meet Deb to tell her about that and a few more! ;o) I was about to say you Americans are weird but I think most of DPC might turn on me so I'll blame the language 'issues' on us Brits ;o)

Ah! The old "bum bag" versus "fanny pack" debate! Takes me back a few years to my my faggot-eating and rubber-wielding days of English versus International English misunderstanding. Best wipe me face with a serviette and get dinner from the fish and chip shop...

I had a bit of a giggle in California when I asked for a jug of water - the waitress laughed hard and suggested I asked for a pitcher of water...

Train tickets have arrived! Can't wait til Saturday - Deb, Natalya and myself are begining early!
03/09/2008 04:10:29 PM · #339
Ah, yes, thanks for the reminder. I need to work tickets for Tuesday. Jelena, I'll be heading down sometime in the morning - we'll work the details later, 'k? I'm quite looking forward to all this, even if you will be giving me a hard time about language barriers and such. Oh, and Natalya - you just need to tell me when your train is coming and to where, and I'll meet you there. Assuming I can find "there"....

Beverley and I will be at Waterloo about 9.30, time for a quick coffee and snack before heading into the eye of the storm...sorry, that's tomorrow...heading for the Eye! I am really looking forward to this GTG, regardless of the weather.

More to the point Sara do they do an English to Yorkshire dictionary? I'm better understanding German than yorkshire lol
03/09/2008 04:51:27 PM · #344
Speaking of German, I tried practicing my "Es ist meine Hobby" on some women I took a picture of today when they asked me what I was taking pictures for - they responded in English. I really need to practice more.

I'll have a small language gift for Deb, as well, and Deb, we can practice all you'd like on the day (of course, I'm rubbish at it, but still).

Hey Guys!!

Do you know what Sunday 16th March is??

It's St Patrick's Day Parade in London!! Could be very interesting?
03/11/2008 05:07:10 PM · #348
Sounds cool.
I'll probably come by car now, a fellow student from the photography society is giving me and one of our models a ride if things go as planned.

Steve, do you know what route this is?

Crowds are NOT good for me in the chair so I might need to rethink my attendance if we'll be near to this :o( (don't worry, I'll pass the name badges on to Deb) ;o)

Nope, but I'll check out the Metro paper tomorrow. I think they gather at Trafalgar Square either at start or the end. So, we may have to deviate slightly if things get too busy, but don't worry I have had plenty of practice getting chariots through crowds!! There are loads of bruised ankles to prove it!!
