Hey Chas, everyone is welcome :o) You'll find that most of the GTG's are about meeting new people, taking the odd photo and chatting about photography...they are great places to learn and if you can make I'm sure you'll have a great time :o) |

Chas, you won't have to stretch very high to reach my standard:) Look forward to meeting you.
obsidian Carl, hope you can come. If you are coming by train from Reading area, check out my earlier post to Mike. Same applies :)

As luck would have it, just came across this tonight, but if it's still open, I'm interested. March 16 looks okay for me, but need to firm a couple of things up (including making sure they aren't planning to break the trains from Norwich to London or shut Liverpool Street Station or anything similar on that date -- yes, they do those things sometimes). It's far enough ahead of my wife's due date (May 27) that I shouldn't have to rush back . . .
/edit/
By the way, for those who haven't picked up on it, I used to be rheverly. Well, I mean, I still am, but it's not my username anymore . . .
/edit/
/edit2/
Anyone mind if I make the local camera club aware of this, or would we prefer to keep it to DPCers? Maybe if they came, they'd start playing here, too . . .

GTGs are not subject to a certain skillset, indeed, I am more than happy to help people out or make suggestions if they ask for them, to the best of my ability naturally. In fact, if you are using a Canon then you are welcome to pick through my lenses and try a few of them out (as long as you put them back, and if you break `em, you pay for `em)
:-)

I think all of the London GTGs I have been to have been predominantly Canon-driven, including the infamous "big grey" lenses! Males a poor Nikon guy like me feel alone, especially since it seems Mak has moved to the dark (OK - grey) side! |

Don't worry Carl, I'm a Nikon girl! You won't be on your own.

Anyone going to this from the East Anglia region? Or perhaps from the Ipswich area? Trains from Norwich on the 16th of March are being stopped in Ipswich, with travelers then bussed to Marks Tey, and then back onto the train into Liverpool Street Station. Total trip is 2 hours 42 minutes.
If anyone is driving from East Anglia or Norwich and wants to share a ride (and get some cash for petrol), I'm game. Otherwise the nearly three hour trip each way might be a bit of a spoiler for me :/ I know, I'm a wimp.
Anyone?

Hi Rob, not sure of anyone in that neck of the woods on here.
That'll teach you to live in Alan Partridge City.

This is a crime against human kind Nikon-kind! Although it does make a fetching necklace...
[James Bond accent] "My dear! What a fetching necklace you are wearing. Cartier?"
[East end accent] "Nah! Canon."
[JB] "Intriguing. Shall we see if I can measure up to the, ah, focal length?"
[EEA] "Nah, it's all right, mate. Me boyfriends got a 1000 mm f/2.8 prime."
[JB] "Well, I certainly CANON compete with that!"
[So I am bored, sitting at home while the central heating boiler is being replaced and this is the best I can manage... It's been a bad day.] |
