you get trashed for being original and not taking photos of pretty things and what not, but then when you do something closer to semi-cliche shot you get a completely rude comment telling you how unoriginal you are and are completely rude about it. i did get this comment but my picture was original. but since it had a black background i was tore up, he didn't even care to look in the middle of the photo. so now i'm really confused, what exactly do people want...

Jon - keep the faith dont despair and continue entering your photos. People who leave rude comments are best ignored and of course you must pity them.

thanks guys. i just want to understand a little bit of their psyche. i know i won't but this is supposed to be a site for helping and expressing, and that feeling get trashed all the time. i know this happens all the time to people on here. IMHO that's wrong. i know this has been discussed many many times, and people say you shouldn't get attached to your photos, but i don, and when some attacks your creativity, that hits home, especially when you're getting a degree in it. but it's not going to stop me, i'll continue and just try and remember not everyone sees something as i do. sometimes it's better to just not leave a comment and keep your grief to yourself.

look at it this way - you submitted the photo you took and really liked to share with other people on this site... so, you already had some satisfaction - coming up with an interesting idea, shooting, picking the best one and so on... now, if you get some appreciative comments, that's even better! if not, those are the breaks... all kinds of people come here... some stick around, and some don't... you can still learn a lot at this site and have a good time if you decide not to compete, but rather just to participate... plus, don't forget the stimulation of the challenge itself, it can be underestimated... low scores and rude comments really shouldn't turn you off... just concentrate on the positive aspects of what this site has to offer and have a good time!
