Is there really a $500 difference? Yes, I know it's L glass, but...

If you're OK with the range, the 70-200 will give you top image quality at all focal lengths, constant aperture, better bokeh and weather sealing. The 70-300 is ALMOST L-quality (it suffers slightly at the ends of its range), it's slower, has a "consumer" build quality and no weather sealing, but it's also more compact (easier to handle and less conspicuous) and gives you another 100mm of zoom for less money. How you value those qualities will determine your choice. |
