When I first stumbled upon this site last November, I had no idea what f-stops, SLRs, and NeatImage were, yet I was hooked from day one. I picked up a G1 and I̢۪ve been shooting practically non-stop ever since. Over the last three months I̢۪ve learned an incredible amount from participating in Challenges and reading Forum discussions, and I̢۪d like to say THANKS! to everyone who has, albeit unknowingly, helped me along the way.
All that said, I think many people take this site way too seriously. To me, this site is two things: 1) a learning tool and 2) fun. When it stops being either and becomes all about the score, I think it̢۪ll be time to move on. Don̢۪t get me wrong, it will be sweet to finally break the 6.0 barrier, but I enjoy the process of creating a personally appealing shot and, in the end, that̢۪s what matters even if I score a 3.5.
IMHO (yeah, DPC taught me that too!) we should stop obsessing about scores and focus on the pictures we haven̢۪t taken yet. Happy shooting!! And thanks again!
