When your shot doesn't finish in the top 10 this makes up for it...

My Bird entry didn't do as well as I would have liked but the post challenge comments from those that did like that shot certainly make up for the disappointment of the score being not quite what I wanted.

So a big thanks to all those that came back after voting to leave a comment!

Your shot was great and should have scored better....but, look at the field of competition for this challenge! There were some incredible bird pictures, it was overwhelming. I am fairly new to DPC but in the few months I've been on board I am constantly amazed at the quality of the submissions each challenge draws. I am also trying to figure out what gets higher scores and I'm still working on that one. Great place to be....enjoy it and better luck in the future. It's the comments that really make it anyway. X

Don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining about the score - other than I would have liked a higher one. I'm thanksing the commenters and saying that the post challenge comments are almost as good as a top placing

Know exactly what you are talking about. I thought I'd nailed the formula with my last freestudy entry.

Not unhappy with a high 5, but it's hard to figure out what does the trick. It's part of what keeps me coming back, I suppose.

I find a check from a client or stock is much more rewarding - I recommend it over this circus any day.

...And this was my entry in Eyes:

This is what i've got:

yep, not top 10.... 86/292! In fact i really hate this finish! OMG, i was expecting a much better finish. So what to do when your shot doesn't finish in the top 10? Prepare for the next challenge and blame the voters! There are guilty! :)
In this particular case perhaps i should have added another light at the lower part of her face... but no commenter stated so. Perhaps the normal (non high-key) would have worked better...

Photography is an art, right? (probably most will agree on this) And as such it depends on the viewer taste... so i'm starting to learn (ok, I'm still "new" to DPC) the DPC recipe... Will keep trying to get that small ribbig1.gif. Meanwhile I will start selling some images at those microstock sites. It seems much more rewarding! :)

But what can i say, i like the refresh button to check how my shot is doing! That's why i keep sending images!
