Being new to photography, I'd like some opinions on some recent shots. Could any comment not only on the camera settings, but also how I could have taken a better shot? The first shot I did use Auto Level with CS3 already.

the first one has a nice range of color and tone and pretty good composition - but lacks anything to bring interest. no subject to speak of.
