Wasn't going to post my score because I felt too embarrassed - then I saw Slippy and Tim's scores and now I don't feel so bad :-P

Ouch, Gordon.
Mine didn't get above the 4s till the last 14 votes. And even this score mystifies me, I'd predicted 5.9.

Meet you in the mid 4 Chill Room - my Reflecting Shot is about 4.4 right now... Just going to write this week off as an experimental one as I get accustomed to my new camera :-)

Opened with a 5.5000 last night. Dropped a bit, but that's ok 'cause the commenters liked my shot :)

Still plummeting...

100 vote check-in...

I don't think I've hit 100 votes this fast before especially with so few comments. I just went through all the photos and am very surprised at the amazing motion captured. I'm not voting, but left a few comments. Impressive stuff!

Good Luck Everyone!

There aren't many entries in this challenge. At this time my entry is a little above my PB, so I am mystified how it is doing so well. : ) Maybe it's because I only do basic editing, and enter mostly advanced editing challenges.

Obviously I don't know which pic is yours but this is a definition of panning ...
"Panning is a great technique for action and, once perfected, the main subject will be sharp against a blurred background. The idea is to follow the subject as it passes in front of you and continue to follow it as you press the shutter and even after the shot is taken.

If you pan at the same speed as the subject it will appear sharp against a streaking blurred background."

Hope that helps

...and if you do it in a way that doesn't fit this narow difinition it can't be right, or valuable, or interesting, or a different approach. You need to do a car, or a bicycle, or a bird, or kids running, and it needs to be sharp against a blurred background. To some you have to fit the mold in order to score high.

Just do what you like. I'm learning that some voters don't get it, and don't much care to spend a few seconds trying to appreciate the effort, and that's O.K. It's just fun and games, and learning. But I'll be PO'd next "2" I get, too.

I'm not quite saying that, IMHO if the pic doesn't fit into the definition of the challenge then it shouldn't score highly from my understanding of the voting from what I have read on this site, but that does not mean the picture is not a good picture, interesting or valuable etc, there are some great pictures in the challenge that, IMHO, do not fit the challenge definition even though they are interesting and valuable.

I realise panning can be open to interpretation more than some other challenges but if for example there was a challenge on trees and I entered a fantastic picture of a flower I wouldn't expect it do receive high votes because it didn't meet the challenge.

I don't know if it's any of my comments that you are referring to but if I mark anything low then I always explain why. I've only entered a couple pics and both received a few of 1's and 2's .... Personally I didn't think the pictures were that bad and I don't mind but if someone is marking my pic down I'd like to know why ... maybe they didn't get the picture, maybe they thought it didn't meet the challenge, maybe they just didn't like it but having a reason would help me.

OK- I'm really not aiming at you or your point of view. Just lots of voters / viewers won't take an alternative view as being valid. And I should have also added in my comment that sometimes we (read "I")get low scores because our (read "my") pictures just plain suck. HaHaHa. But I do get your point, that it does need to meet the challenge, but just argue for LOTS of lattitude.

LOL. Isn't that when we blame our cameras and then spend loads of money on a newer shinier camera :o)

Still holding steady, just above 6, and above my best previous score so far.
Still happy : )
