I had that lens but it seemed a bit soft on the edges so I sent it back and got the 100-400 instead.

I saw that lens here a while ago..lol only problem is that lens wont fit in my camera bag...

The nice thing about that lens is that it also launches a stinger missile, geesh that things looks like a rocket launcher.

lol yes I could see the police here in NYC tackling me to the ground if I am that lens at a building or plane

Yeah, that's a big lens, but the Zeiss 1700 f/4 makes it look puny!

Would like to see a photo of the full moon using this lens and a 2x extender on a 40D (3840mm @ f/11).

Here is an image of the moon taken out my bedroom window in less than five minutes from arriving home, setting up the camera and snapping the shot. It was taken with my 1,000mm catadioptric lens using a 2x teleconverter on my Nikon D1x. So, the effective magnification was 3,000mm.

could you imagine if you were sitting in the stands at a football game and whipped that out lol...of course I'm not sure where you would have it hiding before hand.

It's built into the lens. :) If you look at the photo in the BH link, the front element is actually about where the red L stripe is.

We used mine as the Christmas tree, too bad we forgot and threw it out with the trash.

Weird, I just picked up a 500mm lens yesterday, for $50. Think I'll pass on this one :)

Yeah....I bought an old manual Beroflx this summer for $75....
