Enter it to Free Study :)

jeez, you know i hadn't even considered that.

assuming i take no better shots this month. . .i may just do that!

:o)

Linc: sorry. . .i feel the same way about those who moan about 6.7-7 scores.

Enter whatever you want.

Actualy "Enter whatever you want but never better than scalvert's entry"

Common language division notice - I really didn't know silverware was a synonym for cutlery.

The description didnt give you a hint????

Knives, forks and spoons. We eat with them; now take a photo of one or more of these items.

Just guessing, but I think what he meant was that most folks (though there are indeed some!) don't eat with butcher's knives. :-)

I got that much, I just didn't include stainless steel et al.

How would you know the difference between silver and stainless steel from a photo?

I don't know that people really actually read the discriptions! There were three of the top 20 in "Color on Color" that were white. White is not a color, since it has no hue.

Still Climbing... might make it out of the fours if I don't jinx myself.

It is still a little discouraging since this is only my second submission but I actually tried to be witty, clever, as well as having a good photo. Should have picked a different knife. The finish makes it look out of focus when it isn't.

Ok, so with free-study I just take a picture of something that I find interesting regardless of the content. Got it. But the advance editing always gets me. I am friends
with Gimp, but I think he has better friends he spends his time with.

Linc, the best thing for new DPC members to go and check out the previous winners. There is a pattern in DPC, if you can find the concept of the pattern; you should not have any problems getting 5+ 6+ even 7+'s

If you can't, then that explains a lot, but it might depend on the photo.

I'm not complaining, by the way, just noticing the linguistic wossname...

Jeeez...Never do that. We could have warned you but it's too late now. ;)

Kidding of course. My bet is you'll easily break a 5....I'd even bet on it.

I've been climbing with each vote, so I'm confident that I'll break a 6 at some point. Good enough for me in an Open Challenge. I swore the Opens off but I actually had a shot that fit so here I am slugging it out.

Technically, black is the absence of all color, white is all the colors mixed.

First entry for me also. I'll take it. At least it's not going to brown? Maybe?

I actually liked one of my other shots a smidge better, but I thought it might suffer thematically.

4.5! The average score on DPC was 5.5, this shot is a 5.0, slightly below average, but still a fair shot.

It seems voters lately have blinkers on. I wasn't expecting a 6.0, but the title states the obvious, perhaps no-one can see the obvious anymore and are looking for deeper meanings?

My last few challenges have suffered the same fate. I can take boring average shots, and the scores that go with them...but now, I am asking myself if it is all worth the effort!

White may technically be all the colors mixed...but, they have zero saturation and therefore no hue, such as neutral grays and black...which all but makes those entries DNMC.

I was surprised at some of those entries too, but what color is (fresh) snow? If the answer is white, well...

After 100 votes I have a total of 3 comments.

Is this what's to be expected in all challenges? Is this the norm?

It seems that those that get buried in the middle of the pack get the fewest comments. They don't strike a cord in any significant way to entice anyone to comment.

Also, it's still early. Some people vote first, comment later.
