OK, I really am not sure if this is an improvement ... or if it just is too much. I'm sure you all will let me know, LOL.

Apparently I forgot to post this before and after. Unfortunately, I have a day job that uses a lot more of my energy than I would like to admit. I expect there are others of you that could say the same. Oh well, C'est la vie.
Here is a shot of a painting and its aftermath. I intended to get a canvas of it, but haven't. I hope you enjoy.
As shot ............... After editing
There is a little more information with the images. |

I know I am not in this club, but thought I'd post this one anyway, hope you don't mind. This was the look I was intending on creating even before I took the photo, I wanted to convey a feeling of fear in an old film kind of style. If you want to learn about this kind of processing, come to the workshop in Calgary in July where I'll be explaining it step by step :) |

OK. I should have clarified my request for a book suggetion by stating that I want a GOOD book, and yes I am aware of Barnes and Noble! :-)
Well I'm happy to say that I definitely found what I was looking for!! It's called "the Photoshop Elements 5 book for digital photographers" by Scott Kelby. It is exactly what I needed. It doesn't explain the math behind a fucntion, just how to effectively use it. No chapters on what a megapixel is, or what printer to buy. It's funny, simple, and I can't wait to get home and start fixing things that I did wrong!
FYI I'm mad at everyone here for not telling me how easily I could fix my crappy edits! :-)

I am falling sooooooo far behind in commenting and have not even shot on my own schedule (posting one here every 4-5 days). Just finished a photo shoot but will post one from that set later. I fiddled with the post processing on this photo again from an earlier shoot and I liked the results but for one little detail that mayhap others can point out how to correct it.

DAY 5 - Shayne (Senior Portrait Shoot)
before afer
We had to do the shoot with a lot of sun so I tried to find some shady areas like near this tree. The water behind him was too blown out, so I added a sky image that I had already shot. I also cleaned up his skin and did a little unsharp mask because his facial features were a bit soft. |

I just fell behind ... I'll catch up soon.
And I'll, more importantly, catch up on the commenting this weekend. |

DAY 6 - I'm too sexy for this photo (thread lol)
before after
I had the best shoot with Dyann. We were in hysterics playing around with the magazine and goofy faces. I really wasn't sure if any of the images were worth playing in PS with, but this one turned out to be a little jewel that I personally love. I can't help but laugh every time I see it. : )))
(a bit early but I'm trying to keep up!) |

The color change of the foliage reflection is great. I don't know if you had intended to include the reflection of the photographer, for sort of a poparatzi(SP?) feel, or not. If not, you might invest in a polarizing filter, on your camera, and, hey presto, the refelection is gone... of course you would loose the foliage as well.
