DAY 9 - Chop, chop
before after
This is old - but still cool enough to show again... I obviously did a lot of lightening and softening of this image.. and I chopped mom and dad in half.. so the whole two halves made this whole little cutie kind of effect.. most got it.. some didn't.

Shot this over the weekend. It wasn't a super photo to begin with, but I thought I would see what I could do with it. I've really been reading this book that I bought, and I feel like I'm some (a little ) progress. I don't feel like this is done... I would like to get rid of the cows in the background, but I don't know if I can do it and make it look realistic. We'll see.
Here's some of the progression. Any suggestions?

Hmm. Taking jerseygenie's suggestion. Not sure if this is quite what you had in mind? lol [thumb]687488[/thumb]
I think I'll give cloning out the other cows a shot. We'll see if I can hack it!

Just thought I'd share some more of cgino's wonderful editing talents - I found the following as a comment on one of my shots. I'm thinking of paying her for tutoring....
Comment by cgino:
I love this image composition so much! Big cheese & wine, little guy, I was jarred into interest from the start :-) So I've spent some time playing, with it, hope you don't mind!
I guess what I'd most like to see would be more contrast... so I tried LucisArt 'whyeth' filter, then added some Redfield 'perfectum' to smooth it back down and got this:
which is not quite what I had envisioned.
Plus I got to thinking, not everyone has LucisArt and Redield and whatever flavor of the day plugins, so why not do it straight from PS? So I did a couple of different USM passes at different settings and a levels adjustment to get this:
Now I realize I have strayed from the norm, so why not keep straying??? So I strayed and made a colorized version based on the whyeth/perfectum version. The colorization was done by making duplicate layers of the original then applying colored filters to them then masking out the part of the image I didn't want colorized...probably a pretty clunky approach, but I've been having lots of fun with this technique and here is the result
And she's right - I have no idea what some of those plugins are - I only have CS3 and a couple of cheap (ie free) actions. But I may have to check out some of the others. I love seeing what others can do with my shots, since I tend to just do levels, curves, sharpen! Many thanks, Colleen! |

My husband has been working at home for the last several days and I really didn't feel like I could kick him off the PC so that I could play some more.
Soon he'll go back to the office to work and then I'll start working on my side challenge again. In the meantime I've actually started dishing out some comments, and it was truly about time! More to come. |
