Hello,
I am planning on going to Puebla Mexico in September. I will be using my Sony DSC-H9 and would love to capture some pictures of the volcano (Popocatepetl) and the legendary mountain (Ixtazihutal). I have posted a few pictures in my portfolio of both the mountain and the volcano, so you would have an idea with what I will be working with. The pictures were taken with an inexpensive digital camera; hopefully with my new camera I will be able to have better results.
I am in need of advice of how to capture a great shot, maybe a more focused shot. Or just advice in general with photographing landscapes. I have also though of buying a telephoto lens but not sure if I should go that route.
Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like a fun trip! One of my cameras is similar to yours so maybe I can help out.
First off, you probably don't want to go the telephoto lens route. The aftermarket lenses for those Sony cameras don't really add much and the results can be discouraging. A tripod may come in handy. I use one with my DSC-H5 every once in awhile, the anti-shake on that camera is fantastic. (I use that camera when I walk the dogs and still get decent pics!) I only shoot in manual mode with that camera now. I used to use some of the auto settings, but I've found that when you're outdoors the lighting can change quickly and the camera doesn't always compensate for that. Just make sure you have your settings right and lots room on your memory stick, oh and plenty of battery power! |
