The last few challenges I have seemed to drop on the last day - and further on rollover . . not sure why, but suffice to say, it's not my preferred direction.

I would love for langdon to check the server logs to confirm my suspicion. I believe that a good number of voters are voting 7-10 on the entries they like, then filling everyone else in with 5's until hitting their 25% requirement, thereby knocking the score down on those entries. I think maybe the minimal votes should be removed to discourage this since it isn't any more fair than someone voting on only a single photo.
To further support my suspicion, this happens at the end of challenges because voters have a deadline to make their minimal votes and are in a hurry to make their 7-10s stick, or I imagine their 1-3's for some voters. |

big downward slide. lots of 5s and 4s...or worse. and not 1 comment in the last 24 hours. 470 entries and only 132 votes.

I don't know that it is that pre-planned to be honest and this isn't really the thread for it.
The only two things I would say is that
1) I suspect many people dish out 5's fairly arbitarily - and then don't actually go back at the end and see if they all stack up against each other in terms of quality, or if some of the scores need rebalancing.
2) best answer to poor voting is always to lead by example and try to ensure that each of us gives every photo we vote on as fair a vote as possible.
There will always be some random voting - but if the majority are trying to do the right thing it should balance out.

| My apologies, folks. I really meant to get back and do some more commenting but I have run out of time. There are a lot I will try to get to after the challenge, as I do have comments in my head! Lots of more subtle work this time around - I quite enjoy that. |

i go an entire week holding very very steady at 6.6+ and with each vote it's dropping, on the last day, with each contest.

The first four comments were from terrific photogs whom I respect and admire, I got a fave VERY early, the rest of the comments are just really, really nice, I broke 6.0 in a Free Study for the first time ever, and all this in my 100th challenge!

Where do you sit right now in the FSM? I am in 17th, and I think my 6.5ish shot should hold my ground or possibly make up one or two spots. Then again, this seems to be a high scoring afair.

Crazy. A six will get you 149th place. My score of 6.46 was a personal best (really? Wow!) and it got me 55th. I think this is one of the better free studies I have seen in a long time. Thanks to everyone for sharing such marvelous images!

This was my best ever FS finish. Thanks to one and all for making my 100th challenge entry a terrific ride and a lovely finish!
