It really isn't, in my view, any sort of "the voters are wrong and we know better" sort of thing, as the snarky comment suggested: it is simply that there are many kinds of photography, many tastes, many styles. |
I'm guessing that you are calling my comment snarky, which it wasn't in any way intended to be. I very much believed this thread's purpose was to get recognition to photographs outside of the winners every week. I have to admit I haven't followed the whole thing, and Prash was simply the first to show a photo from the front page that *I* saw, so I wanted to touch on how I thought the general feelings of the thread were. Now I know that it's not uncommon to pick photos that are also winners. C'est la vie.
Back to your regularly scheduled programming. |
Actually, I wasn't referring to your comment at all, sir. I didn't get specific on purpose, but did not realize others might think I was applying the snarky comment label to them--my apologies.
This is the comment I felt was snarky (and, of course, I have never ever posted a snarky remark anywhere, anytime in the whole of my life ;-)

I rarely post images in this thread, although I read it and enjoy the content very much.
But, this image really delivered to the nth degree the idea and concept around shallow depth of field in a way that is neither gimmicky or contrived.

This is simply a gorgeous portrait of a beautiful young woman by her father. We can see through his eyes as she transforms from a girl to a woman. |
