Hi all
I have been planning a web site for ages, but in the end it became a blog.
I'll be putting up heaps of free Photoshop Elements 6 (mostly) and Photoshop CS3 video tutorials in the coming months.
htp://darksideofthelens.com
The blog is very much aimed at the newcomer to digital photo editing, starting out with the very basics (which most people here will have mastered) but working up to more complicated procedures as it developes.
Some small video tutorials are there already. I'll be putting up higher resolution ones over the next couple of weeks. If you leave a comment, feedback, or subscribe to the newsletter then I'll let you know when they go up as they'll only be available to registered members (still all free). You email will not be passed on to ANYONE, and newletter is going to be an occasional thing, so don't expect a flood of emails ;)
It's all free, it is just something I've wanted to do for ages. I learned so much through other people, and on DPChallenge in particular, so I like the idea of giving something back.
I have heaps of content planned, but the order is flexible, so if there is something you'd particularly like to learn please leave me feedback on the site and I'll see what I can do (let me know if you want it shown in Photoshop or Elements).
It feels a little like I am talking to myself there right now *laugh* so if you wish to give me a little support please drop by, register for the newsletter, leave a comment, whatever :)
If you have your own blog/website then please feel free to link to me if it suits your site :) Similarly, it helps me get seen if you add me to any online bookmark whatsite (Delicious, Stumble, Digg etc).
So, pop by and say hi sometime, even if I don't know you :)

Thanks :) Only a few videos up so far but I hope to be adding to them rapidly.
I know exactly what you mean there Alan. When I looked into this I found there was heaps and heaps of great tutorials around, but they mostly focus on Photoshop and more advanced/fun techniques. Even most of the Elements ones do the more advanced stuff.
However, I am always being "pestered" by my friends to show them the real basics, and for the absolutele beginner they are essential.
These basics don't seem to be so much of an issue with Photoshop as the users tend to have the basic skills before they invest in the software, maybe purely due to the price.
I usually work in PS at an advanced level, and I admit that stuff is a lot more fun to do, and teach. However, I really wanted to be able to offer something for the beginner .... and then take them further so they can build on that and eventually reach the more complicated and fun stuff, but with a sound platform with the basic skill set :)
:)

Yups me too. And when something useful appears I'll link to it too from my own blog.

Great, hopefully you'll find something useful there, either now or in the future (so keep watching).

Excellent, thanks.
I am still obviously building up basic content, but I hope to now be able to start putting it up faster. Give it another month or so and there will hopefully be enough for you to link to it (as I completely understand not linking until there is enough substance).
I see you have a nicely established blog there Camabs, with some great content. I'll do a quick post and link to your sometime in the new couple of days :)
