Hey guys, I'm looking into getting a printer for my house and I'm having trouble finding reviews. I've got no idea what models I'm trying to decide between, but I'm looking for something that will print up to 8x10 and will have as close to photolab quality as I can get with spending less than $1000 (for printer alone). I think I want dye-sub because last time I looked they had the best quality. I definitely want something that does an overcoat.
Things that matter to me:
-------------------------
Image Quality
Size of Print
Things that would be tie breakers:
----------------------------------
Cost per print
Terrible B&W prints
Things I don't care about:
--------------------------
Portability
Speed of Prints
Batch Jobs/heavy loads
Thanks for any advice you've got! |

as far as reviews and suggestions are concerned I know my next printer will be the Epson R1900. It is ink jet but it prints up 13" by 44" and everything I have heard about it is positive. |

I have the predecessor, the R1800, and have no complaints.

I have an HP Photosmart D7260. Prints look good, has built in ethernet jack, was relatively inexpensive. Good enough for stuff going on the walls at home. Anything for large prints or sale prints gets sent to a real printer anyway. |

Thanks for the advice, guys! Is dye-sub not the end all, be all, best printer ever that I thought it was? Or is it just hard to find in a format larger than 4x6? |

I have two injets,
Canon IP4300
And PixmaPro9000
love them both and can do up to 13x19 in house with no problems.
