I thought I'd do something with my photos instead of just look at them and so I joined the Kaua`i Society of Artists and entered a Small Works Show that runs from the 13th of December through the 30th of January. I placed 3 of images from the Overlays Side Challenge in July into the show. The show has a juror and one item from each artist will be placed in the show and one could get more then one item placed. I had no idea what to put as a price tag so I hope it's not too high nor too low. Anyway I am thrilled to have entered and now it's up to the juror and customers as to what happens next.

Here are the three I entered. I reworked the Hanalei Pier and the Postcard from Hawaii/Allerton Beach images but left the Orange Flower alone.

I just got a call from the head of KSA and he let me know that all three of my images have been accepted for the show. I am so excited knowing that all three are in the show and will be on view for a month and a half and to top it all off they are for sale. I put a price on the images but didn't know what to put so I might have been a bit modest in my pricing from the way the head of KSA was asking about my inclusion of a 25% donation to KSA from each sale. Oh well, it is better to get some movement in the photo realms then to worry about pricing. The show opens Friday evening. I'll let you know more when Friday's opening is over.

Hot off the presses! Sean has won an award for the Hanalei Pier Overlay and is excited to have sold a print of it already. Woohoo!!!! I am very excited to have all three of my works accepted let alone winning an award that comes with $50.00. I thought the one Overlooking the beach would have won but then again I am not a juror nor qualified to judge a show. I am very impressed with the quality and variety of work submitted to the Kauai Society of Artists - Small Works Show. I will have to take a closer look tomorrow when I go back to meet the juror and hear her comments about the show so I can learn something for upcoming shows.

I was really nervous to enter the show and am so happy to have been picked as an award winner. The sale of a print of the award winning overlay is icing on the cake. Yes, I truly happy tonight and thrilled to have been a part of the July Overlays challenge and inspired enough to join The Kaua`i Society of Artists and then enter a show. Feels good to have a little recognition from people living in paradise.
