Has anyone here heard of the photographer Steve Parish?
He has been one of my favourite photographers for a long time and I'm just wondering how he compares to other nature photographers on the world scene.

Personally, I believe that nobody can ever top Ansel Adams. But I have never heard of Steve Parish.

I am not familiar with Steve Parish, but I will do a search on him when I get a moment now that you have brought him up.
I think many photographers are wonderful in their own right. |

I like his waterfalls, and that Koala staring right at the camera is great. I think they are nice images, but not "star quality" or "art" so to speak. But, who am I? |

You're a professional (?) photographer, aintcha?
Steve Parish doesn't really do it for me either. I think people like Tomoyuki Sakaguchi, or Satoshi Asakawa are more my style. But then again, I'm much more familiar with Japanese photographers (for some reason). |

Nice enough but don't do that much for me. I think there are so many wonderful wildlife photographers in the world that images really have to be quite amazing to place their taker in the top ranks...
But his work is perfectly pleasant...
(And a lot better than anything I can do!)

Go into any post office, card shop etc etc etc in the country (Australia) and it will be flooded with Steve Parish stuff, and that's for maybe the last 10 years at a guess. He must be worth a mint by now.
Some of his shots are sensational .....
The problem though is he has published 1000's of them, so rather than have a good photographers best 100 shots, all amazing, you have the top 1000 and thus the average quality slips.
I used to love him and then he got over exposed (pun intended) and went far too commercial, and now I think he simply manages to publish stuff because of his name, rather than actual photo quality.
Some of the work here on DPC leaves most of his for dead.

I agree totally.. It's mostly a case of quantity vs quality with him.

You beat me to it Ter. I have always loved the work of Steve Parish.
There is a small town close to me called Dingo and they have one of his photos of a Dingo on the wall at the roadhouse. It would have to be one on my favourite photos. |
