I need a bigger CF card than the two 1 gig cards I have. There is a big difference in pricing between different brands. Does brand really matter or should I just get the fastest card possible? This is why I ask....CF Card |

I have some Kingstons and never had a problem. Also some Sandisks and an Adata. The Adata may or may not be as long term reliable as the other two, but it's hard to really know. |

The pricing on cards is different often because of their write speed. Check out this website. At the upper right, you'll see a drop down menu of write speeds for different cameras which compares various CF cards. The faster the write speed, the more images you can take in a burst situation. (yes, part of the write speed is dependent on camera model, but in a tight situation - action shots - one can use all the help one can get.)
I happen to use Sandisk Extremes. While not the fastest, I haven't had one die yet and a few of them have been through the washing machine with no problems.
EDIT TO ADD: I stay away from the hard drive cf cards - they are very sensitive, easy to corrupt, and can't be washed.

LOL. You wouldn't want to take any dirty pictures. ;-)

There might be a point of diminishing returns. You wouldn't want to spend a lot of extra money on a card that's faster than your camera's buffer is capable of unloading, if that's possible?
Just a thought.

I suggest Kingston cards, their mid-level speed series. And buy them direct from Kingston - I've found that to be the cheapest way, and their cards have never given me any trouble at all.
I used to use SanDisk, but they can be a real pain in the butt about things, whereas Kingston has never given me any trouble at all.

I'll second the Kingston cards. They're a good mid-level range as far as speed, the speed difference with my SanDisk was near negligible. The price was half of that of the SanDisk.

Completely possible. My Sandisk Extreme IIIs are much faster than my 300D. I have to constantly hurry up and wait. However, I have some first generation cards (when 512 was a big deal) that, because of their slowness, actually cause me to lose shots on my 30D in burst mode (my buffer is faster than the card). |

A growing trend on here has been Transcend cards. I don't personally have any, but everybody else says they are great and the price is pretty low too. So far I've only had Sandisk extreme III and IV and have had absolutely zero problems and great write speed as well. |
