We've all seen the turd shots before...they will be labeled "doesn't meet the challenge" right off the bat.

I think you should all come to Belarus and take pictures of me, I know that none of you have any pics of me, and I would bet, there are very very few of you that have been to Belarus. So that would be a practical guarantee something/someplace new. However, I guarantee that you would not win with a picture of a 35 year old fat man :-) |

Only problem is I have shot pics across Colorado, so that wouldn't work, let's choose someplace we both haven't been, say like Tajikistan or the Galapagos Islands, your choice :-) |

You know, it doesn't have to be only the subject that is new. Think about going some place you have never gone before. Heck, get in your car, drive a half hour get out and start walking around!
This is going to be fun. :)

I've been thinking hard about this challenge and if you take the wording literally:
"Shoot something you have never entered before -- taken in a place you have never taken pictures before."
It means to enter into a place you have never been before and take a picture. This to me means an INDOOR shot of anything as long as you have not been there before. Does anyone agree with this interpretation? |

It can be a good interpretation FOR YOU. But it does not have to be for someone else, if that someone has taken many shots indoor.
It does not have to be an original never done before image, but it shoot be a never tried before image FOR YOU.

Inede:
I don't think it has to be indoors. For example, you could be IN a park, you could enter a game reserve, you could be IN the ocean (not with MY camera, but it is theoretically possible.)
So, I think Willem is correct: Inside or Outside is up to the photographer.

I agree with your interpretation but the voters will have the last word. |

I don't think that it calls for an indoor entry at all. I read it as go somewhere you have never been and take a picture of something you have never photographed before. This, to me, represents a well-deserved nightmare to all of the "doesn't meet the challenge" folks (of which I have certainly been one on occasion). Imagine trying to tell someone you have been there before or you've done that before...

Dr. Jones should be allowed to shoot something he has shot before ... can I get a show of hands in favor? |

I don't understand how the voting is supposed to work for this challenge. How is the voter supposed to evaluate if the phtographer has previously taken pictures somewhere? Are we supposed to check the portfolio of every entry to verify they haven't entered a similar shot? It doesn't sound like this one was too well thought out, but whatever. I'm a newbie so it benefits me. :D
