Next attempt for launch is set for 01:10:22 A.M. EDT Tomorrow

I'm so bummed (again). dammit. Was out in the lovely night air and in the last hour or so clouds rolled in again. I even had a few buds willing to help keep me awake (insert adult beverages here) until the launch. Bah.. guess we'll try again tomorrow. I love night launches so really wanna catch this one.

Here is a shot of the weather , that scrubbed the launch, shot in the direction of the Cape from my vantage point. I figured I would at least get something before I came back home.

When they retire the shuttle fleet I think they should do one final launch. Launch an unmaned shuttle, fill its cargo bay with all kinds of equipment that could relay pictures, video, sound, and other interesting data back to NASA. Launch it in a way that it could go into deep space. I wonder if that would be possible.

Valve Problem Scrubs Launch Try
Tue, 25 Aug 2009 06:01:00 PM EDT

A problem with a fill-and-drain valve inside space shuttle Discovery's aft compartment has scrubbed the Wednesday morning launch attempt for STS-128. The launch team is evaluating the issue and has not set a new launch date and time at this point

Sunday National Geographic had a special named "Alien Earths" (so far it is very interesting, I dvr'd it). But of course this is possible, they have already launched rockets (not space shuttles) into space to gather data, most recently in March. The show describes what scientists claim to be the first planet discovered outside our solar system. Their next showing is Thursday Aug 27th, I'd suggest watching it if you are interested in discoveries beyond our solar system.

Oh Crud! It's rainy here anyway, so maybe from this vantage point that is a good thing. I need to rest tonight anyway after being up all night last night.

It's on again. Anyone going to be looking for it tonight? Launch is at 12:22 AM the 28th. I will most likely go out to the pasture nearby to see if I can see it through any clouds that may be around at the time.

Nasa Space Shuttle Launch Page
Here is the NASA link that I like best for updates about upcoming shuttle activity.
I would love to go be close to this night launch, but it is 4 1/2 hrs from here, so it's a bummer when they scrub the launch. Last time I went it was a 7 hr round trip because they scrubbed about an hour before I got up there.
I camped out 3 days to get the first launch, which I photographed from the west side of the river, about 15 miles away.

For those of you with an iphone... you can download the wunderradio app and pick up nasa's feed anywhere you are. It's a cool way to check on the status of the launch. Or you can check them out on twitter where nasa posts very frequent updates on every single thing that is happening with the progress of the launch.

Wish I could have stayed up in Orlando to watch it.

I have two of the astronauts on twitter astro_127 and astro_jose so I can get updates about launches, but even better astro_127 sent updates every few hours during the last 14 day mission. Its pretty cool to see what they are doing up there and pics along with the 1st person descriptions.

I'm ready for tonight - weather looks good -- please let this one launch on time! :)

Aweeee that was lovely!! Godspeed, guys! I'll see if I caught anything worth sharing, but will tell ya -- despite the fact that I was shooting with 2 cameras, it was what I saw and shared with my daughters that made watching it worthwhile.

Very clear here but was unable to see it from my location. I guess the city. :(

Be right back with what my grandson and I saw from here. Good luck STS 128 and Crew!
