Looking for a big bag anough room to hold 4 lenses, with one attached to the camera, enough pockets to hold all my crap...er...cords, filters, ect... I had a great bag but I am out growing it, and I have just broken the strap because I guess it's just to heavy for it. Don't want to spend hundreds of dollars, but I know I want it to last for a long time and something that I will be very happy with. Thanks for any repies I get.

Go to Lowepro.com and check their bags out - particularly their 'trekkers'. I love'em!
It sounds to me that you can get away with the mini trekker AW (AW = all weather). Cheap but still very professionaly made and ideal for hiking.
They also have more traditional bags if you prefer that... |

I actually got a medium sized Samsonite bag for Christmas from my little boy that I love. It's a backpack style with lots of room on the inside and two pockets on the outside. It's big enough that I fit my minotla and an aps slr camera, two high defination lenses, a bunch of filters, the hood, and a ziploc bag of white gloves and rags inside I keep the batteries and camera cards as well as my wallet and keys in the zipper pocket on the outside as well as any other junk I am toting along. Then the final pocket usually holds a pen and notebook. Best thing about it was it came from WalMart and was half the prize as the Quantaray bag almost identical to it. (Psst show your seven year old what you want and you get it, he threw a fit in WalMart til his dad left him get it for me)

I have two LowePro Stealth Reporter bags. 400 and 200 models. The 400 I can carry my entire kit:
10D w/BG-ED grip
17-40 F4L
28 2.8
28-105 3.5-4.5
50 1.4
70-200 F4L
420EX flash
52mm, 58mm, 67mm and 77mm filter boxes
Lens brushes, lens cleaner and paper
Canon charger
Energizer charger (for flash batteries)
Optex hurricane blower
Cell phone, wallet etc.
With the 200 it's small enough to carry most everywhere (I went hiking with it the other week) and usually carry:
10D
17-40 attached w/hood reversed
70-200 in one partition
28-105 and the 50 in another
420EX can be wedged somewhere but it's tight.
filters, cf cards, lens cleaning equipment.

Tamrac is a fine brand as well. I have both brands. Lowe and Tamrac, and can't say as I prefer one over the other. |

At least consider the Delsey Pro line. The Delsey Pro 2 is their size down from the largest and will hold 2 6006 bodies (1 with a Nikkor 24-85 attached), a D70 with Nikkor 17-35 attached, a Sigma 50-500 Ex lense, a flash unit for the 6006's, 2 sf 50mm, a Wolverine 20Gb data storage unit, usb cables, battery chargers, spare batteries for the D70, 6006's, and the flash unit, 20 rolls of film, 3 camera straps, and a set of filters for the 50mm's, plus lense pen, camera manuals, and cable release. Web strap is sewn completely around the bag, uses metal hardware, includes a built in rain cover, has reverse seamed zippers and is configurable in absolutely any combination you might need.
All for $139.00 US. Hard flat bottom with skid protectors. Pretty amazing bag for the money. Plus subtle....does not advertise as a camera bag. Looks like well finished luggage.

I really liked my lowepro 2aw but it ended up only being large enough for 3 small lenses (primes) with one oncamera, their bags are a little pricey though. currently my system is: the 10d with 70-200L, 24mm/2.8, 35mm/2.0, and 50mm/1.8 and they all fit well in my new canon backpack bag (along with flash extra batteries, chargers, and other accessories). The Canon bag retailed for about $40...the same price i paid for the halfsized 2aw. Although the 2aw was nicer from the water/sand resistant aspect, the canon bag is slightly less water resistant but still nice and I just fold up a true waterproof bag in the ample space it has for really wet conditions. |

There's all kinds of links throughout this thread. I know my LowePro MiniTrekker AW holds quite a bit and is plenty small enough for carry on.

I have a Lowe Pro 35 that I got when I was about 13. I'm still using it for my 10D stuff, but have yet to figure out what to do with the elastic loops on the lid that were designed to hold film cannisters.
It holds everything I use. 10D w/ 28-135mm attached, Sigma 12-24, Sigma 105 Macro, Canon 50mm f1.8, Minolta 50mm f2, Macro filters, 420EX, Off-Camera flash cord, TC-80 remote, Spare Batteries & Flash Cards, Battery Charger, assorted cords and cables and my Stroboframe flash bracket. I have enough room left to carry some keys, change, etc in the front pocket and if I need to, I can lash my tripod to the bottom of the front pocket. There is plenty of room for the BG-ED3 grip if I decide to add that at some point.
After 20+ years of service and many thousands of miles, it's still in good shape and it stows nicely under the seat in an airplane.
Someday I'll try out a backpack style bag, but it will definitely be a Lowe.

I just bought a Lowepro Rover II AW and it's just the best. Ideal for carrying lots of stuff (even your lunch) especially if you intend on doing lots of walking. I was never going to buy a backpack style bag but after carrying my Lowepro Magnum around town I quickly converted. |

Took the words right out of my mouth gajmaj. I have a mate who has one and he swears by it. I have the Magnum AW for big trips and the Nova 4 for day trips. The Magnum is great for lots of stuff (alittle heavy on it's own though). |

Anybody have any experience with Crumpler camera bags? They have some strange product names and an "interesting" web site, but I like that they don't necessarily scream "camera bag!!"... |
