Hey guys,

I am wondering about this challenge. Would a horseshoe work? I know its technically for another animal and it really goes on a hove. I think I got a decent exposure to enter but just wanted to run it by you guys.

Thanks

And if you do enter it, you just gave away your entry which is pretty much against the rules.........at this point I'd say no.

I would consider a horseshoe to be footwear. Others are likely to see it differently, however.

I too thought about a horseshoe type shot but whilst I would consider it to meet the challenge I fear that a sufficiently large number of people on here would mark it low simply because it isn't a boot or shoe. So personally I would only enter it if the shot is either outstanding in every way or you have no interest in the score you receive.

Would a shoehorn be something related to footwear? ;)

Ps. Here is a link to a previous "Footwear" challenge:

Challenge Description: "Sneakers? Pumps? Sandals? Clogs? Whatever your fancy, make something that you wear on your feet the focal point of your composition."

Sounds "human" in nature to me. I wouldn't enter a horseshoe (or a shoehorn either) if you want a decent score. JMO of course. Good luck! :-)

I'm in. Probably good for a solid 4.5.

I thought of the shoehorn, but as an accessory item, not as the main subject.

Being a last minute kinda girl I bought a prop I needed over lunch and will be shooting as soon as I get in this evening.

Probably a nice n average (for me) 5.4 (i reeeeaaaallly hope no lower) positive thinking is the key. Well I guess taking a good shot is actually the key but I am counting on the positive thinking ;)

I had a horseshoe as well to shoot, then read the description. Had it just been left as Footwear, I think it would have been ok... but the "make something that you wear on your feet" clearly implies human (and if really strict, the photographer) :)

Why exactly do I even bother trying? If I had some good lighting my shot might have worked. I dont (if a really dark thunderstorm hadnt happened I might have been able to get away with it), it looks bloomin awful, Im now sulking! (and not entering)

Don't give up! There's lots of things you can do indoors with lighting and be creative. Look around for an interesting background to isolate the item you want to shoot. Go to a room that is dimly lit (block the window light or shoot at night) and play with lighting angles (low, high, off to the side, etc...).

Thankyou. well im entering. If I scrape a 5 I will probably be lucky, I actually like it but there are a couple of faults (lighting still being one) that will probably get ripped into.. Good luck everyone : )
