Anyone knw how to take the BG of one shot, the FG (a portrait of someone's head) & put them together?

Basically I was looking for some steps on how I can take the sky BG in one shot and make the BG of this portrait I took.
Any help, tips & tricks would be much appreciated.
thanks!

The general steps are:

1-Open both images

2-Select and copy the new replacement background area from the background image. You don't need to be careful. You only need to select a large enough area to fill the background of the portrait. It can be MUCH bigger and that is no problem.

3-Go to image where you want the background replaced.

4-Select the background area to be replaced (sometimes much easier said than done). Many ways to do this and it is ABSOLUTELY the secret to successful background replacements.

5-Select feathering amount (pixel transition overlapping between selections). That is "Feather..." under the Select menu.

6-Select "Paste Into" under the Edit menu. This creates a new layer with the background pasted in but only for the selected area.

7-Make adjustments to both areas for a smooth and natural combination. You will have to switch back and forth between layers.

Sometimes this can be very easy, other times very difficult. It all depends on the original images and the selected area.

Merge Visible?
Flatten Image?
Save As Copy?

I use the Extract tool in the Filters menu (up at the top):

You'll need two images that are the same size in pixels, as Steve noted. The person and the background you want her/him in.

1. Choose as small a brush as possible (Edge Highlighter tool--it looks like a marker), and paint around the edges of the person you are going to extract, with the edge as close to the center of the brush mark as possible. Hair is no problem with the extract tool; use a small brush size when tracing areas that are well defined, and a larger brush when doing stuff like hair. Trace all around the person so your tracing leaves an enclosed area. Make sure there are no gaps.

2. Now use the Fill tool (the paint bucket in the Extract window) and click it on the person you've outlined.

3. Click on Extract, and in a few moments, you'll have your person there with no background! There will probably be some fuzzy weird stuff around your edges. You can clone these out, but first simply duplicate the layer a few times; this will get rid of a lot of the weirdness. Merge these new layers.

4. Now you can select your person, copy her/him, and paste him/her onto a new layer of your new background! Cool! Now your good friend is standing on the Eiffel tower--and she's giant!

Have fun!

OMG, I didn't know about this tool! It works GREAT! Thanks a lot for the info. May be time to actually buy a book on PS. :)
