I have a Canon xsi 450D. I am looking to get an external flash and they range from pretty cheap to pretty pricy. I just need to know what do I look for in a flash to know it is good? There are so many types with various options and I just want to make sure I get something that will work for what I want.
For example, Next month am I photographing a runway model even t for breast cancer charity. It will be dark so I would need a flash but have no clue what to look for.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many will recommend the 580EX for it's power and flexibility. If you can afford one, that is probably the one to get. I have a 430EX. It's not quite as powerful and lacking some of the 580's high end features, but it does everything I need and was a very good price used on Amazon. Biggest feature to me, is to make sure you get one that both tilts and swivels, so you can bounce the flash off walls and ceilings as needed. |
