Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM

Hi guys

I would appreciate if somebody can help me... I'm trying to download some pictures from my camera Canon 5D Mark II, I had it set at the highest resolution in Raw file (which I did by mistake, because I don't think I need it like that). The thing is, the pictures downloaded, but when I try to open them in Photoshop CS3 it gives me a message that cannot reconize this type of file... Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong??

It's related to the ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) plugin used by PS to read raw files. I'm not sure if the last update for CS3 supports the 5D Mark II. If it does then good. If it doesn't then you need to upgrade to CS4 or Lightroom to be able to handle the raw files.

.... or just use the software which came with the camera for adjusting the raw files then export them to TIFF or PSD for loading into photoshop.

I think 5D II raw is supported in Camera raw 5.3 or later. CS3 can only use upto Raw 4.6, so no 5D II support.

Support for the following cameras is included in Camera Raw 5 and Lightroom 2. Camera Raw 5 and later is not compatible with Photoshop CS3.

I had the same problem... got pissed off and purchased CS4. Problem solved.

If your looking for cheap then why not just use the software that came with the camera?

I just download the free trial for lightroom, works nicely, if at the end of trial budget doesn't allow, I'll have to work with this other software. Thanks guys for giving me more than one chooice to work with ;)

Or as suggested you could use DPP that came with your camera and just do your inital edit in that and then export to a 16bit Tiff which will work just fine in PS CS3... I think in PS-CS3 you can also use "Open As" and open the tiff as a camera raw file which will open in your version of ACR... All that without spending a dime...
