Great idea to start a 24 hour challenge with a 'banana' topic on a day that all stores are closed. NOT!

same here! I even turned to the bin to find a rotten banana skin, but there weren't any in it... too bad, I would have like to send something in, but now I'll just watch and see what the others come up with..that's ok too!!

Wow, and there was I thinking America was a consumer orientated country.
Even in Australia you can find corner stores open on Mondays :)
Sorry, there may be many excuses for not entering, but "I can't find a banana in 24 hours" has to be one of the more amusing ones ;)

For you maybe in Didyabringabeeralong, mate! :)
In central Europe the challenge runs from sunday 7.00 AM to monday 7.00 AM. The only store that has bananas at this moment is in the centre of Amsterdam (choose between the 24h 7d shop or the "Banana Bar"). No bananas for us Dutch hillbilly country folk.
My neigbour only grows cucumbers and tomatoes, no bananas.
Waaaaaaiiittttttt, it is a members challenge. I'll just photoshop the heck out of a cucumber to make it look like a banana. Or I'll give it a sign with a stick, saying: "I'm a banana with an identity crisis".

Of course in OZ you can find a banana on a Monday. Maybe YOU can buy bananas and take photos of them whenever you like, some of us have responsibilities and have a fulltime job. I don't have to make excuses for not entering, if I can't I won't. I was pointing out that some has to go into setting challenges on a world-wide site.

Hehehehehehehe
I am sure if you go and cruise the red light district there must be a banana there somewhere you could borrow ;)
Just noticed a typo in my earlier post, meant "Sundays" not "mondays".
Methinks some people have too many "responsibilities" and are taking here just a tad toooo seriously *laugh* I think Azrifel's approach is far more enjoyable ..... although, there may be a high cost in banana therapy following the challenge ;)

Wow... I just read my last post and I sounded like my dad. I really should take a chill pill. Maybe some of that banana therapy would help. :) Sorry Natator... us Aussies should stick together.

You guys should move into civilization! Grocery stores where I live are open Sunday's until 9:00 pm and some are even open 24hr's!
But, as it turns out I actually bought a bunch of bananas yesterday - both yellow and green... many different sizes.
Hehehe muh ha ha! |

What's up in your ass, first everyone are asking for a speed challenge and when it comes then everyone are acting like grumpy old men. Two things to do if you don't have any bananas, quit crying and move on to next challenge or be creative.
ps, even in Iceland there are few places open 24/7 how sells bananas

I may not have any ready to eat bananas, but I have a few in the freezer waiting for banana bread.
Hey, that gives me an idea....

For those of you who have no banana's maybe you are just 10 years ahead of the times, as you can read here...
//www.commondreams.org/views03/0719-02.htm
For those of you who can't think of a thing to do...banana bread, banana muffin, banana split, banana peppers, banana yellow, and the list goes on and on and on, oh and check your suntan lotions too...Banana Boat!

I thought those were more rare than bananas, and went extinct a lot quicker too.

It's a funny place to find that, no? Maybe it's a "healthy" fruit after all. Actually, being soft and a rich source of potassium, bananas are an important dietary component for people on anti-hypertensive medications. |

I don't know about the original quote, but Harry Chapin used it in his 20,000 pounds of Bananas song. I'm going to have to sit this challenge out, as I am off to work... Won't be done till tmw 4a.m. Missed the deadline. Ah well... next time. (ps to the site council, I work every Sunday, noon til 4 a.m., so speed challenges on Sundays really suck for me.) Enjoy the challenge.

Precisely, that's why I mentioned the Banana Bar. Very creative banana 'holders' they have there, should also do very well in the 'unusual point of view'-challenge. :)
Damn, I wish my 602 was a lot better in low red light....
