I was browsing on dpReview tonight and there is a long thread about Noiseware from //www.imagenomic.com/

Very fast and easy to use. compares favorably with Neat Image. I didn't quite like the results on my banana entry but it did a bang up job on a portraiy of my nephew I took using ISO 3200 (just practicing pushing my 10D to its limits)

pretty cool and the price is right.

Here is the original and a copy that used Noiseware. No other image correction to keep the comparison simple.

incredible how low the nois is at iso 3200 on the 10d. I get more noise than that with iso 400 on mine.

Guess us Mac users will have to wait a bit longer. Should be worth it.

I just downloaded the program and used it on a picture with high noise...can't believe how fast it did the job...11 secs!
Not a bad job either...but now I'm going to find a pic with lots of noise and see what it does...will try posting later.

I just went and downloaded the program and I couldn't believe how well it worked. I did the first pic at full suppression and when I saved it , it was called a filtered version, so I never lost the original, but it does wipe out any EXIF info. Would you still be allowed to use this for challenges as long as you keep the original photo?

Thanks for the post. I own NeatImagePro already, but I'll give this a try!

I believe the answer to your question would be YES Pioneer. Basing that opinion on NI being legal. It's always a good habit to do editing on a copy of the original file.

Here's some results of using this program, which I like already because of it's simplicity and speed. Doesn't give you as much control as NI, but I like it nonetheless with just a few tests.

I downloaded Noiseware and noticed it comes packaged in a Windows Installer Package, and it's file extension is ".msi". I've never seen this before. Hope MS hasn't put any of their little surprises in this format. Does it have an automatic update feature, or "dialer", or anything like that?

Neat pic Olyuzi, it cleaned up nicely.

You must always keep the original file regardless of the editing you do. If there is a proof request, you will need it. Since the functionality of this software is equivalent to NeatImage, and the software acts on the entire image, I feel confident in saying this is legal.

The .msi extension is legitimate; you can read everything you wanted to know (and more) about the new-and-improved Windows Installer here.

Thanks EddyG. As you said, more info than I needed. Did you see the item about "How do I prevent confidential information from being written into the log file?"? Typical MS approach, it's enabled by default and disabling it is not a user friendly thing.

That is an awesome program. It doesn't erase all the fine detail! Just a really nice program. And boy is it quick. Does a 4200x3000 pixel picture in about 10 seconds. Thanks for the link. Can't wait to buy it.

i thought it was free??

It is, but I think they are getting a more advanced one ready for sale. Sorta like ni, the free one will be more limited than the one you purchase. They had a comparison chart between the free/advanced programs with a lot of the features saying no in the free version. Anyway, I enjoy paying people for their hard work, especially if they make my life better.

Thanks Dave for the tip,

I used it and maybe I'll do better in the challenges since I get alot of grain.

I think I would have done better if I had used Noiseware. Van
