I have a question for all you wedding photographers out there. I have a 70-200mm f/2.8L IS i'm thinking about trading in for the 85mm f/1.2L. I've been spoiled by sharp and fast L primes now and the 70-200mm just doesn't seem sharp anymore. The only time I use it is during ceremony and portraits. Other than that it stays in the bag the rest of the day. I shoot with 5DMKII mostly...looking into the 7D as a second body soon.

Are there any millionaires here that have both lenses? Should i do it?

I would keep the 70-200 2.8L and buy the 85mm 1.8.

$350. I love mine.

You will get better bokeh with either 85mm over the 70-200.

The people I know with the 85 1.2L absolutely love it, but I don't see the $1000+ price difference between it and the 85mm 1.8.

You have a 5D MKII, and are looking at a 7D for a "second" body...and you're calling someone else millionaires? lol, good one.

I have both and the 85mm 1.2 stays on my camera every opportunity I can get.

I also have the 85mm 1.8 - that is an impressive lens too. It is what made me buy the 1.2.

I'm contemplating the 5d mk ii - but with a baby my financial priorities are being somewhat tweaked nowadays!

I currently have cash burning a hole in my pocket for an 85mm 1.2 II, just reluctant to pay the current list price so waiting for a decent used one to come along.

Regarding the 70-200 F2.8 - if you dont think it is sharp then maybe you need your copy recalibrated - my 70-200 is razor sharp, even wide open - its a great lens that I would only sell if they released a 70-200 f2.8 mk2

I will say though, that the 85 1.2 strapped to a 5d mk2 is a very tasty combination.
